Bless These Lips!

Oops. A mouth mishap. The words just slipped out, and there is no taking them back.

Words are powerful. They can build up or tear down. They can affirm and teach or criticize and condemn.

By God’s grace, a mouth makeover can improve our relationships and affect our attitude toward life. Our words can enrich our connection to God as we spend more time in prayer and praise. Most important, God desires that we use the gift of speech to give Him praise, encourage others, and verbalize our faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.

Bless These Lips: 40 Days of Spiritual Renewal examines things we say that get in the way of our relationships with God and with others. Each chapter draws on lip product analogies and uses humor, anecdotes, and observations to introduce Scripture passages that address common behaviors and attitudes.
The prize package includes:
• a signed copy of Bless These Lips
• a pretty cosmetic bag with lip balm, lip liner, and lipstick
• a handmade bookmark
• a $15 Amazon gift card
• a framed print of a quote from the book “God has given you a unique mission to speak His words of love and grace to a lost and discouraged world.”

Wow, how often have I searched frantically for the rewind button so I could rewind the tape, erase it, and say something different (or nothing at all, depending on the circumstance)? I need to become more comfortable with spending time in prayer, not just praying, but really spending time.

Sadly we all have experienced moments where we are telling ourselves “why did i say that” or “why didn’t i just quit talking or better yet not say anything”. What’s the old saying? Never miss a perfect opportunity to keep your mouth shut…Kathi thank you for writing a book that helps remind us to watch our tongues…and for all the other wonderful books you’ve written and I’ve had the pleasure to read. God has truely gifted you and blessed you with your writing and the topics by which you write. Keep up the wonderful work and know there are many of us out here who are very thankful for what you do. God bless!

I have to watch my knee-jerk humorous comments. Just because people laugh doesn’t mean I should have said it. Lord, I need your help.

Hi Kathi. Hope you are well? Even if I am not able to win because I am in South Africa I still want to comment. I remember sometime back when I was, “out of concern”, asking a friend about her daughter. I made one comment, not knowing that my friend,s cell phone was on loud and her daughter heard my comment. Although to me there was nothing about the comment that was out of place, so to speak, her daughter was in a bad place in her life and took it wrong. WhenI found out that my “words of concern” had hurt her, I was devastated. The lesson I learnt was this, even though our intentions and concerns seem to be honorable, to others they might be just s different form of gossiping. It was a lesson I have never forgotten because, as you send, our words are to encourage, uphold and bring a person to wholeness inChrist. I phoned and apologised. Blessings.
